Contributor Handbook: Pathways

This repository manages the Pathways project in the WordPress Contributor Handbook. Pathways are concise guides that help new contributors find their way into the WordPress project. Learn more about Pathways.

Status

  • undefinedWe need guides: If you can, please pick up an idea from the project board and flesh it out using TEMPLATE.md.
  • undefinedHelp us Improve: We’re working with WordPress Markdown Importer, but would love ideas on how we can better organize and surface pathway guides, and make them look nicer too. Come discuss it with us in #core-program!
  • undefinedIndexes will change: These likely won’t stay a list of links, so to suggest a new pathway, open an issue. Then add the guide if you can, using TEMPLATE.md.

Contributing

We’d love your help! Here’s how:

  • undefinedSuggest a pathway: Open a new issue with your idea
  • undefinedFlag a problem: Found something broken or unclear? File an issue
  • undefinedWrite a guide: Pick up an idea from the project board and flesh it out using TEMPLATE.md . When you’re ready, set your issue to In Review.
  • undefinedReview a guide: Test an existing pathway as if you’re a new contributor, and share feedback as an issue
  • undefinedHelp us Improve: We’re working with the WordPress Markdown Importer, but would love ideas on how we can better organize and surface pathway guides, and make them look nicer too. Come discuss it with us in #core-program!

A note on scope

Pathway guides are maps, not manuals. They give contributors enough detail to find what they need and get started, but they don’t rewrite existing handbook pages. When in doubt, link out.
