A Time Capsule of My First Steps into Tech

“Everyone has a first portfolio. This was mine.”

Welcome to ansh-sarkar.github.io, my very first personal portfolio website. I built this in my first year, when I was just getting started, experimenting wildly, and trying to figure out what I wanted to do in tech.

Looking back, this site feels like a time capsule. It captures curiosity, confusion, excitement, and a lot of late night experimenting.

At the time of building this site, I was 18 years old and deeply curious about almost everything (still am… if not more). I was learning web development, exploring cyber security, experimenting with UX design, reading research papers, doing competitive coding, and trying to understand how technology fits into the global market.

I was saying yes to every opportunity, learning a little bit of everything, and slowly discovering what I enjoyed most. This site itself was built using the basics. HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Git, and GitHub Pages, along with plenty of trial and error.

This repository exists as a humble reminder, to myself, of where I started. Deleting this would feel like deleting old photos, so it stays. If you are just starting out and feel unsure, this project is proof that you do not need clarity to begin. You just need to start.

🧠 TL;DR (Gyaan Mode)

  • You don’t need clarity to start
  • You don’t need perfection to publish
  • You just need curiosity and consistency
  • Your past work might feel cringe, but it can inspire someone else
  • First drafts matter more than final ones. They get you moving

If you are a first-year student, a beginner developer, or someone scared to put their work out there, my advice is simple. Start. Start messy. Start unsure. Thanks for visiting this little corner of my early tech journey 🌱. Think I could be of help? Feel free to reach out. I am pretty active on LinkedIn. Shoot me a DM or an email.

P.S. To my 18 year old self, don’t worry. You have done alright. Thanks for the grind.
